    Good afternoon everyone....
Safari has got the right idea Shiney:ktykss:
Archi and Theo are quite excited as they think the lawn has turned into a pond.....we've had torrential rain for 24 hours now and there is knowhere for it to go....i did spike the lawn a week or so back so it can't be compacted....there has been no let up so i'm really not suprised....spiked it again today to let it drain again but i think i'm on a hiding to nothing:doh:....trying to keep positive about this rain and finding anything i can to save it in....it is lovely stuff.....bet you can all hear the strain in my voice:heehee:
I'm sure it's not helping you lovely folk with joint problems ..and i really do feel for you...Try to think of that lovely warm sunshine we've got to look forward too:SUNsmile:

I've just come in from working in the garden. Mowed one of the lawns, stored just over half the pile of pots in the shed, sorted out the delivery of bird food, put up my new nyjer seed feeder and have stopped for a cuppa. The hardest part of all that was storing the pots in the shed. My back doesn't like the bending that was necessary.

When I was putting one of the bird feeders back a blue tit started feeding from it whilst it was still in my hand. :)

I had better start on the food now. I have a large chicken to take apart (sorry loli  ) as I'm going to roast the legs and arms. The breasts will be cut up and frozen for stir fry and the wing tips, carcass and skin will be going into a chicken soup. I've got to get all that done and then go to a meeting at 7.30. :phew:

      Good morning everyone,

Hope you are ok and looking forward to the weekend as i know i am:snork:

Sorry haven't been around much this week but have been getting stuff sorted for our walkabout and then heard news of another long time friend {30 years}passing away suddenly so haven't really felt much like coming on here:cry3:

It is still persisting down here and it makes me laugh that we are on a hosepipe ban yet there is a leak in the village that has been pouring out water all onto the path and down the road despite workmen trying to stop it:mad:

Yesterday afternoon we had a big flash of lightning followed staright away by the thunder clap which made me jump. That is the second one of those on two seperate days this week. The starnge thing is it was chucking it down with rain and then the rain suddenly stopped like a tap was being turned off then we had the flash and bang and imediately afterwards the tap was tuned on again and the rain started:snork:

Hope you all have a good day:smile:

      Good morning everyone....
Sorry to hear of your friend passing Kandy....sad news:sad: hope you are ok....

We've been up early pumping the water out of the garden...the lawn is under water ....
The thought of it all going down the drain is driving me nuts....everything is full though..4 huge water butts...trugs, buckets anything that can hold water really....
The water level is slowly dropping now but it's still raining....not as heavy now.....
Next problem is keeping dogs and chickens off the grass or it will turn into a quadmire....
Hope everyone is ok...wishing you all well....

Can i come and live in Shineyland PLEASE....:dbgrtmb:

      Good morning everyone,

Kandy, I'm very sorry to hear about your friend

loli, the regular members on GC are all entitled to come to Shineyland and surrounding areas without need to be fully checked by Border Control. You just need to show your Shineyland Pass which can be obtained from me. :dbgrtmb:

It's been very sunny this morning but has turned a bit dull now.

I'll need the weather to be OK tomorrow as our nephew is coming to do some work on the pergola. He's going to fit batons to it so that we can then have a corrugated clear PVCu roof put on it. We'll also get another water butt as the runoff from the pergola will run onto the carport roof (we don't have a garage) and into the existing butt. So the new one will be linked to the old one. Not that I can use the water butts! I can't bend forward and pick up a watering can when it's full . That's why I have an exemption from the hosepipe ban. :old:

The sun has just come out again.

      Have a great day

Hi Everyone, Sorry I didn't appear yesterday spent the day in bed and the loo but did lose another ½ stone! Just hope I can keep it off now. So that 3½ stone I have lost since last July. Still got more to lose however.

Glad you got your exemption through for watering with a hose. Still you are unlikely to need to use it at the moment. Do not overdo things with your back Shiney.

Kandy sorry to hear about your friend.

Loli, I know what you mean about pets making your garden a quagmire. I have my garden fenced off at the patio to stop Amber from going on to the lawns in bad weather. Wish I could put a stop to the fox and her cubs making a right old mess around my front garden. It is only a border tiled round with those fancy open bricks but it is where the spiders like to hide in the dry so the foxes are scratching them out. Because I didn't get to feed them with half a tin of dog food last night this morning I found that they had found a chicken carcas from somewhere and left that on my pathway! I had quite a bit of tidying up out there this morning. Not a lot I can do about it as they are living under the neighbour or Steve's shed, not sure which.

The sun's shining and it looks lovely out there now. Hope it will dry up a bit so I can get the mower round. I don't think so as we are told there are more storms and high winds on the way. Have a good day all.:)

      Morning everyone,

Its a cold morning here, had a little dusting of snow, but its supposed to warm up today....which is good because Kait and 10 of her friends from College are all going camping about 20 minutes from here, right on Georgian Bay.....but since its warming up, not too worried.

I'm home today, but Brad has given me a list of errands to do for him.

      Good morning everyone,

Yesterday stayed fairly dry (just a couple of showers) and was mostly sunny. In the evening I went to my Friday bridge club (AGM - I won the three major competitions for the year so got the first prize for them which was cash - but not a lot ) and watched a vixen and her cubs playing outside. The club is at a school and they seem to live underneath one of the pre-fab type buildings. The mother caught a magpie but the kids weren't interested as they were too busy playing.

It's been dry all morning until a moment ago. I don't know what the weather will be today but the forecast isn't too good. We're off to the big city shortly as we're gonig to the Tate Britain. A cousin of mine (an art historian) is giving one of his private tours for our family and friends. He has a theme for these tours and they're always extremely interesting and entertaining. I'll try not to get caught up with the cyclists demo this morning in central London.

      Have a great day

It's my weekend on so off to work shortly .....
      Enjoy your day everyone....take care:SUNsmile:

Hi Everyone, yes, I'm much better today thank you. Just wish this rain would give over. Got company coming tomorrow should be fun. The friends that are coming have a little Manchester terrier so her and Amber should have fun. Trouble is Amber has grown so much since Tinks last saw her, the size of Amber may scare the little dog. Have a good evening everyone.

        Good morning everyone,

We're back from the big city after a very good day. There were 20+ of us at the Tate and the tour was superb. It rained, fairly gently, all day but my big brolly did a good job. After the tour we strolled along the Embankment to a pub, for lunch. It was an excellent lunch and we sat upstairs with a good view over the river. We nattered away until 5 p.m. and then slowly wended our way home. :)

See you later this morning.

Well, Shiney, it stopped raining here just before 5 a.m. but it was still blowing hard. I hope it's clearing up down your way :heehee:

Don't know but it is a terrible state of affairs. I got drowned this morning. Why do drivers when there is nothing coming in the opposite direction still insist on driving through the kerbside puddles and splashing the likes of me and the dog all over! Not nice behaviour. Trouble is there is nowhere for us to go when that happens we cannot move over.

Glad you enjoyed the Tate visit shiney. Have a good day all.

That's a horrible thing to do!

I hope you've both dried out now.

The rain has been coming down steadily for the last few hours and Shineyland is now getting soggy. I'll have to think of putting the shields up again. :heehee:
