I'll wave to you. :yay: :heehee:

Just to make you feel a little warmer - these are the two beaches on which they filmed South Pacific. They're on the island of Kawaii.

The first one is where they did a lot of the big beach scenes, just along the coast from the second one which is at the little town of Hanalei. Some of the filming was done at Hanalei which is a pretty town.

This is the church in Hanalei. It's nearly 200 years old.

Where exatly is Kawaii, Shiney, is it near Hawaii or is that just a coincidence that the names are similar?:)

        Good morning everyone,

Yes, Moyra, it is part of the Hawaiian chain of islands. There are 8 main islands and Kawaii (also spelled Kauai and numerous other spellings) is the oldest and most northerly and their fourth largest island. In my opinion, it is the prettiest and nicest of the islands and, apart from tourism, is used a lot for making films. They have had over 60 famous films made there including South Pacific, Donovan's Reef and Jurassic Park.

The biggest island in the group is the newest (geologically) and is the one that is named Hawaii (locally known as Big Island) and is still growing because of its active volcano. The second largest town is Kona which is where Kona coffee comes from.

Second biggest island is Maui and is a favourite for honeymoons.

Third largest is Oahu which has more than double the population of the other islands put together. It's main town is Honolulu (capital of all the islands) and Pearl Harbour is there.

The other four vary considerably in character and have little or no tourism (banned on two of them).

Sorry about the length but you know you can't shut me up once I've got going :heehee:

The guide book I wrote about Hawaii is now out of production so I can't sell you one :lunapic 130165696578242 5: (we were given a freebie one month holiday there so that I could write it ) . Although they do still have some as reference, for guests, in one of the largest and poshest resorts on Big Island.

        Have a great day

Morning Everyone, just got back from walking Amber and it is spitting in the wind.

Shiney as Loli says that was really interesting. It is times like this when I realize my education is sadly lacking. Thank you:ThankYou:

Have a good day all. I'm hibernating again.
