Moyra, it's not a case of lack of education but of opportunity. I was lucky enough to be able to join the merchant navy and get paid to see the world. I then made friends around the world and had the opportunity to be able to work at more than one job (not easy to get any job nowadays) so that I could eventually afford to get around more.

Then it was a matter of grabbing opportunities as they came up (some friends said it was a matter of taking silly risks and being lucky that they paid off). Even the great fortune of meeting Mrs Shiney :wub2: was a matter of being in the right place at the right time (we met when I was on leave and staying with a friend - we went to his fiancee's house and the future Mrs Shiney was there :dbgrtmb:). My friends always said that I was lucky :).

With regard to other things, I always read lots of books and was able to absorb the info. So was able to make use of it.

Re Hawai'i (that's the proper way to spell it ) I liked what the famous author Jack London said about it.

In what other land save this one is the commonest form of greeting not “Good Day”.... but “Love?” .... Aloha .... It is the positive affirmation of one’s own heart giving.
    - Jack London, 1916

Thank you, :ThankYou: That's lovely Shiney, always thought Aloha was hello although they use it for goodbye as well so that is rather nice if it is sending love each time. Funny old day keeps coming over to rain but just holding off. Have a good day everyone. :)

      Aloha,
It's been a good but busy day. Mrs Shiney has been teaching all weekend and I have had to cook all the food for the students.

i've just come in from the garden and have trimmed the edges of all the beds down the back of the garden, picked up all the clippings (that's the toughest job for me), pulled up a load of weeds and pulled out a load of walkingstick cabbages.

As Aloha is now used as a greeting and for saying goodbye we can start and finish with it if we want to. :dbgrtmb:

      Aloha :wub2:

      Aloha,

The sun is shining and all is well with the world, well I wish it was but we can pretend if you like. My little car has gone in for its MOT today so I am keeping fingers crossed that she will pass ok. Have asked if they will put in a new set of plugs as I cannot remember when they were last done.

I have put my washing in the machine so hope to get it out and dry before there is any more rain. Have a good day everyone.

      Aloha. :wub2:

      Aloha,
Sunny here s well :dbgrtmb:. I hope your car gets by OK with its MOT . Mine's booked in for a couple of week's time and so is Mrs Shiney's. Her car is 12 years old and doing well.

I've got to do more gardening from now on as Tracy has had to stop helping us . We'll try and get some more help but good help is expensive.

      Keep well :blue thumb:

      Aloha

      Aloha,

It appears that my near side brake calliper had rusted up and although they got one in the thread had gone on it and so they have had to order another one and it wont be here until tomorrow so I shall not get little Vee back tonight. Boo hoo but I knew that calliper was sticky because we had to free it up last year. Don't use the car enough only 600 miles since last MOT. Well at least I know we shall not have the same problem next year. :wallbanging: I hope you have less trouble with yours and Mrs. S's cars.

Off to cook dinner, Spagetti bolognaise tonight. The bolognaise is already done and is in the crock pot so it is only the spagetti to do. Have a good evening.

      Aloha :spinning:

      Aloha, Moyra,
Sorry you're without little Vee but it's good that it a minor problem :dbgrtmb:

I've just come in from mowing and I've done the whole of the garden today :phew:. Moyra, you know how much that is, especially the hard work of weaving in and out of all the wild flower areas down the end of the garden.

Enjoy your spag bol. I bought a large chicken yesterday for £4 (special offer) and we'll be having roast tonight just using the legs and wings - with roasties, yum yum. Tomorrow we'll have stir fried chicken and veg done with one of the breasts and later in the week it'll be chicken curry with the other breast. The portions are quite large as the chicken was 2.25 kg. I've made a chicken soup with the carcase that will last us a few days.

The temperature out there is 78F :hate-shocked:

      Aloha

          Aloha,

Loli, I hope you and the boys (all three of them :heehee: ) get a chance to romp around :dbgrtmb:

Mrs Shiney is off on another coach trip to some gardens and wildlife area today. I'll get some more gardening done before going to bridge.

We were supposed to have some friends coming to stay for the weekend but they have had to cancel as he's not well enough . We'll have to re-arrange it for another time.

It's quite warm at the moment but they forecast rain tonight.

          Aloha everyone

            Aloha

Thanks for your commiseration over little Vee, she is 13 years old this year so she's not doing to bad and only 78k on the clock. As I think I said earlier I only do about 6 or 7 hundred miles a year with her but must try and get out more.

Sorry your still very wet there Loli, we have beautiful sunshine this morning. I must cut my grass today as it will probably rain again tonight. I hope you have a lovely break away it sounds lovely.:)

Waves to WOO, Penny, Jenny and the Kandies, have a lovely day all.:)

Its been a little cooler here the past few days, although by the end of thr week, its supposed to be HOT again, which is fine with me, its a long weekend here, Canada Day on Sunday, although the holiday is Monday.

I'm home today, so i need to water and weed a little, and go to the grocery store too.

              Aloha

Well it is very hot and muggy out there now. Amber encouraged me out there but my legs didn't want to know it was hard work. Then she didn't oblige me so if she wants to go out again later it will have to be down to Steve. I have done 3 walks today and that's enough for me.

I got my grass cut and strimmed round the edges this morning so while it is coming over black now I wont argue if the heavens open.

              Aloha:wub2:
