    Good morning Kaz,Woo and everyone.

Kaz,so sorry to hear you have been unwell and hope you feel better soon. :blue thumb: Nothing worse than feeling unwell and then having to work through it all.Just take it easy and try to have a break inbetween looking after everyone else and look after your own health:smile:

Hope you are ok Woo and enjoying those lovely Grandchildren of yours:smile:

Looks like we have had a splash of rain in the night as the front path is wet but we didn't get the downpour that they said we would get.I am having to water my butterfly bushes and one of my birch trees has lost it's leaves because we are drying up again and round and about there are lots of saplings in the hedge rows that are going brown and crisp:frown:

Have a good day everyone

Aloha, Penny, kaz, woo and everyone,

Kaz, I hope you weren't too unbalanced - apart from your normal condition :heehee:. I hope you don't have too many bouts of M :blue thumb:

We've finally got some rain so I'll put the sprinkler away. No gardening this morning and bridge club this afternoon (got another 20lb of beans to sell :dbgrtmb: ). I'll do some housework instead of gardening.

The inspector from the Council came round yesterday to see whether we could have another green waste wheelie bin. She had a special questionaire to fill in. We have to show we are already composting and being 'green'. She saw our compost heaps - four of them in the back garden that are 5ft x 5ft each and one in the front. She then asked where our compost bins (Daleks) were and I said that we had much too much compost to use bins. She agreed with me but said that the 'powers that be' want to see all the boxes ticked on the form , but she will have a word with them. There were a number of silly questions but I think we shall pass. If not, I shall have a word with our district councillor - he lives two doors away.

I had to go to Barry on Saturday to sort out some forms for him. One was from the Water Authority and was fairly easy. They had made a mistake with billing him for the flat he's moved into when they put a meter in. Solved that with a phone call :dbgrtmb:

The other form was complicated. It was the new form from the government to see whether he qualifies for his Disability Living allowance and Incapacity Benefit. It's to see whether he can go to work and have reduced, or no, benefits. Rather stupid to send it to him (very worrying for him) as he's been registered disabled since birth (Cerebral Palsy, curvature of spine, epileptic, partially sighted, partially deaf, chronic tiredness etc).

Twenty pages of questions :rolleyespink:. He's not even physically capable of writing for more than a few minutes (one hand can't hold anything and the other starts trembling if trying to control something small like a pen). Can he get up two steps? - Yes. Can he get up a short flight of steps? - Yes, but he can't get down again. Can he walk 50yds? - Yes (on a good day) but mustn't do it on his own and uses his mobility scooter all the time.

With the number of "yes's" on his form they will probably call him in for a medical. What a waste of time! They have his medical records for the last 40+ years and they still stress him out with sending these type of forms  (stress brings on epileptic fits). I'll have something to say to them if they ask for another medical!

I've got a bit of studying to do for one of my meetings on Thursday. It's about the Olympics anti-doping test centre. The government are going to base the new Medical Reasearch Council Phenome Centre there and it comes within the area where one of the committees I'm on helps with education, jobs and infrastructure. I should be able to get it delegated to someone else :heehee:

Keep well and have a great day

    Aloha!

    morning all

Woo Kandy and shiney thank you for your kind words, yes feeling much better, Kandy you sound just like my hubby he is always telling me to slow down ! i just dont know how :dunno: shiney im still unhinged but the Balance in is better :heehee:

Shiney good luck filling out the form from the DHSS,I just filled out the same for MIL it took me days ! and i wish i was joking , she has Pityriasis Rubra Pilarous a rare skin disorder which basically looks like she is sunburnt with blisters and she loses/ sheds her hair, skin and nails, she also has raynaurds, and lupus Sle has also just been diagnoised, if this isnt bad enough she also is BI polar, stress affects all of these conditions ... even with the form filled in and all the dr's all gave a report to enclose and we sent Photo's of the skin condition as it is quite rare, they still called her in to have a medical, she was convinced they were going to stop her money, she virtually stopped eating so she could save her money ( even though i buy her food and cook it at my house and freeze it down so she only has to mic it ) the DR doing the assessment to be fair was Horrified that MIL had been called in he actually phoned his boss to say that this woman needed to be cleared for benifits straight away, he didnt even complete the questions, we had brought info with us he said leave it with me and off you go, thank fully after a wait of 5 weeks they have put her in the catagory of IN TITLED TO CLAIM
MIL lost a stone and a half through the stress all of her conditions kicked up ....... it makes me so cross !!!!!!!!, most of my clients have been called in too, some have even had a house visit due to the fact they claim to be bed bound and have 24 hour care peg fed and oxygen..... you would think that even our government would believe a DR saying not fit to work
cor that was a bit of a rant lol :runforhills:

have a great day all stay safe and cool and be blessed in all that you do

    Good morning everyone,
    Take it easy Kaz....hope you're ok now:dbgrtmb:
It's back to my dressing gown with a hood on this morning Shiney:biggrin: it's pouring with rain....the garden really needs it though as cracks were starting to appear....looks like it's set in for a while so i'll be pottering in the GH:dbgrtmb:Mr L and I are both off this week and plan on a good clear out in the garden....we have accumilated alot of 'junk'..ie...old rotten shed...so a few 'tip' runs are in order....Also after asking the council many times for an extra green waste bin and being declined we've a Eucalyptus tree that needs a good pruning as it's getting out of hand so that will be a tip run in itself:phew:
I can see myself clambering around in the Eucalyptus tree doing impressions of a Koala if the rain eases off:lunapic 130165696578242 5:.....
I'm sorry Barry has to endure more stress Shiney...it makes my blood boil to think he gets sent these ridiculous letters when the authorities would do better chasing up the scroungers:gaah:...it's a good job he has you:dbgrtmb:

    Take care everyone:SUNsmile:

    Aloha Evryone,

Kaz and Shiney, I am with Loli re your M.i.L and Barry. I am dreading it when they get round to me. I got up with a chronic back ache this morning and I have pins and needles all down my left arm and in my hand makes it difficult to type. I expect I have another trapped nerve. Rather it was in my left arm and hand than my left leg and hip where it was before. Shall have to try and do some physio exercises again.

Loli this weather is too much for the dogs isn't it, Amber is just out flat on the floor trying to keep cool. I got the fan on near her.

Hope everyone else is ok this morning Waves to WOO, Penny and Kandy.

    Aloha!:wub2:

Aloha! Yes, WOO Congratulations, very well done on getting a first. Look after that back of yours, mine has eased up a bit since first thing this morning. I think walking Amber does ease it up a bit. Provided she is not pulling on me that is. Yes Loli Amber is restless now. I took her out a little while ago but it is still very hot out there. She has just pushed her way up into my swivel armchair, and managed to switch my printer on. There just isn't enough room for us both in this chair, that's better she has just got down. That's enough to do my back in.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone, I must go check on the watering.

        Aloha for now!:wub2:

          Good mornin g everyone,

Sorry to hear of Barry's plight Shiney and hope that you manage to get his problems sorted soon:blue thumb:

Moyra,I can't see you having any problems as your Dr surely will be able to back you up over your health problems although i am not sure what goes on at these assessments although i have heard people complaining on the radio programmes about the way they have been treated so hope that it all goes well for you when the time comes.:blue thumb:

Woo,congratulations on your award and lovely to see that you are going to be rewarded for all your hard graft:yes:

Loli,do you know how chickens keep cool in the heat? as i don't suppose they can pant like a dog does.I assume they have a bath but as i have never kept chooks don't really know what they do:scratch:

We had another hot day yesterday although you wouldn't believe it with the amount of slugs and snails out in the garden.Going ot have to give them a dose of the blue stuff again me thinks,or else i won't have any garden plants left:snork:

Have a good day everyone

            Aloha, everyone,

Woo, great news and many congratulations :dancy:

Kaz, I don't envisage too much of a problem with Barry and don't really expect him to be called in for examination. If they do, then I shall give them a hard time making them comply with my conditions (I've done it before :heehee:). For a start, they would have to hold the examination within mobility scooter range (he can't use public transport).

Moyra, if you get the form to fill in it's not too difficult as long as you read it first. It took me about an hour, in discussion with Barry. Each question is understandable and fairly specific and some ask similar questions. The important things to remember are that you must be truthful when filling the tick boxes but it's what you put in the large spaces where they ask for explanations that you get your point across.

e.g. one question asks whether you can move from one chair to another. Barry's answer was 'yes' but I explained that he can't sit in one position for more than three minutes without being in considerable pain and he is in pain and discomfort all the time. Lying down is the least painful position and he has to move from that position regularly. Standing is the worst and can barely do so for a couple of minutes.

Good explanations can make a difference. Putting down what brings on panic attacks or, as in Barry's case, fits also helps. I put down that things like the thought of having to fill the form would bring on a fit (well it almost did but I rushed round there quickly and helped him) and having to go into new surroundings or meet people he doesn't know can do so.

If you get the form and are having trouble answering any of it just let me know. I'd be happy to come down and help. :dbgrtmb:

The weather looks as though it's not sure what it's going to do today. I'd better get out there soon and pick the beans or they will be getting too big. That'll take me an hour.

Keep well and have a great day

            Aloha!
