    Aloha everyone,

Well done, woo :dbgrtmb: and some posh sarnies too :heehee:

It sounds as though you're all getting good crops now :hapydancsmil:. We haven't grown a lot this year apart from the beans (of course) and courgettes, marrows and similar veggies. I haven't grown peas for years (don't know why ). The new system of growing the beans has really paid off and I'm now picking 10lb a day.

The garden is so dry that I shall have to put the sprinkler on again and have bought a new one that I hope will do a better job than the old ones. I want to get some more mowing done before it gets too hot today.

Mrs Shiney is off to Hatfield House for the start of the 3 day Country Show event. She has a load of her crafts on sale there

    http://www.hatfield-house.co.uk/whats-on/events/hatfield-country-show/

This weekend is another students one so I shall be planning my cooking for both days and get the shopping this afternoon when it's too hot for gardening.

The last couple of days has seen a fantastic influx of sparrows and greenfinches. We have hardly seen any sparrows for years and our usual host of greenfinches haven't been around much this year. Even our big bird feeder needs filling every day. The finches crowd the bird feeders (they're very messy eaters and chuck it everywhere) and the sparrows are clearing everything they drop.

Keep well and have a great day

    Aloha!

      Good morning everyone,
Well done Woo:yay:....two awards:yay:....well deserved:dbgrtmb:....hope you took it easy on the 'pear juice';)...
We all had a nice day in the garden:dbgrtmb: but as usuall me and my dad ended up in the GH:biggrin:
This year i'm having a go at the GC pumpkin challenge...and a challenge it's been thus far:phew:....i have 2 plants that are covered in male flowers but only had 3 female and when i was looking at them yesterday every single flower had at least 3 bumble bees in them at one point there were 6:dancy:... it was a marvellous sight....and certainly worth growing them even if it's just for the Bees :yahoo:....
Have a great day everyone and take care:SUNsmile:

        Aloha Everyone,

Well done WOO on your two awards and the lovely salmon sandwiches, sounds lovely.

Shiney I cleared my few beans yesterday they didn't do much good this year at all.
The only growing I have now apart from the normal garden that is, is the tobacco plants which are all doing well.

It is lovely to watch the bees loli, sounds as though your pumpkins will be off to a good start but aren't they a bit behind?

Waves to Kat, Kandy & Penny. Have good day everyone.

        Aloha!:wub2:

          Morning everyone,

Its a cool day here, almost feels like Fall....we also had more rain overnight, definitely need a jacket or sweater today.

I'm off shortly to do some deliveries for Brad, need to renew my liscence, and have to take the truck to the Ford dealer, Brad thinks we have a CV joint going in the front.

If i dont pop in later, have a great day all.

              Aloha everyone,

Woo, many congrats on your prizes :hapydancsmil:. We once won a prize for the best 'wild garden' and we weren't sure whether to be pleased or insulted  :heehee:

I got a lot done in the garden yesterday despite the heat :blue thumb: and want to try and get the front lawns mown before the students turn up. With the way the weather is, it'll be lunch in the garden for them.

Loli, we had one of Mrs Shiney's friends come round the other day and she went off with a bag of slugs for her chooks :). We told her to bring the chooks round and they could go on slug patrol with Mrs S. She collects 100 - 150 every day and then gives up. We've got thousands of them . If they came round the problem would be that Mrs S would be cuddling them all the time. When she used to have them as pets she used to teach them to do tricks. :snork:

Keep well and have a great day

              Aloha!

                Aloha Everyone,

WOO well done that's three awards you have there you cannot count you said two! Lol and £100 is not to be sneezed at either so its nice that Mrs W has put the money into the home for you both to share.

Shiney, I can imagine Hannah with some chooks! She is such a caring person and all those slugs! yuk that's a definite a job that makes me squirm. Still be Loli's garden is free of slugs, might get a couple of chooks myself get rid of the slugs. Oh darn my landlady wouldn't like that!

Have a good day everyone it is going to be a really hot day.

                Alloha all!:wub2:

Yes, Moyra, and the chooks love her :wub2:. They will quite often fall asleep when she strokes them under the chin.
