Yawn yawn, wakey wakey winter 2018

    Aloha everyone,

    I ventured out in the snow yesterday and drove into town for fresh fruit and veg. Slow driving but fairly easy.

    Had a great big cook-in. Made enough chicken soup for a week, a giant oxtail stew and roasted a load of chicken thighs. We can now hibernate for a while. Sarafi smelled me doing the cooking and came round for his favourite treat - a chicken wing from the soup. He came through the 6" of snow and plonked himself down on the back step and went to sleep in the snow - after having miaowed and knocked on the back door. He's a Snow Bengal and doesn't seem to mind snow at all. He got his wing when it was cooked and I had run it under the cold tap. :thumbsup:

    It's nice and toasty warm indoors and Mrs Shiney has a bit of a cold and is still suffering from jet lag (we were up for 40 hours when coming back from Rajastan :rolleyespink:). Fortunately I don't do jet lag. :)

    I'll be checking up on Mrs Shiney's elderly patients that don't have family nearby or anyone to help them. None of them are bad enough to need carers but they wouldn't want to venture out into the snow.

    Heavy snow forecast here later today.

                              Hoping everyone is feeling much warmer now that the BEAST FROM THE EAST has blown Far far far away :thumbsup:
                              Ive had a busy morning picking up the pots and troughs that were blown over- and just generally checking on the garden - have to say it was nice to be able to have a bimble aboot without risk of being blown into the next county or exposing meself to severe frostbite :huh: Do hope we've all turn a corner weather wise :fingers crossed: it will take a few more days here for normality to resume ;) ....but thankfully no great harm done :phew:...... as we hillside-dwellers say just another Winter season in tha Countryside :heehee:
                              The one thing for certain is
