Okay, the gentle diet starts. I wasn't too bad over the holiday season, just a few too many cookies and sweets so I tipped the scales at 145lbs this morning ... not really horrendous as I weighed 139lbs when we met/married (we met on Christmas Day 1967). The shape has just changed to plumpier! :heehee: Here we were Christmastime a few years later at friends (they recently sent this photo) ...

Good day and Happy New Year!

It is cold and white. Weather Jan 1 2024.jpg
And as you can see, still dark. I can't see any stars so it must also still be overcast.

I'm going to start the New Year by going back to sewing some things I haven't done in many years. To start, I shall be making myself some new bras. Custom fit equals super comfort and I wished I hadn't gotten lazy and bought them the last decade or so. It's a big difference! So I'll be switching my domestic machines to again use the computerized one with the specialty stitches. And I have most of the supplies I need already on hand :)

Emily has spent the last few days pretty much reading and sleeping. She still has dark circles under her eyes so I'm hoping these iron pills start putting zip back into her.

@Victoria I don't need to get on the scales to know that I gained a few pounds too. Eating boxes of chocolates and dozens and dozens of cookies does have a price but I don't regret one single mouthful. Yum!

              Cheers :coffee:

We had a friend in Bucks who used to model for Berlei and I remember her Mum making bras for her ... well, hammocks as she was a BIG girl! :heehee:

Good morning , finally we can get back to routine, it's surprising how muddled the week and days get between Christmas and New Year.

Not a lot will be going on today I fear. The weather is not giving us it's best performance today. We have another weather warning in place this time for heavy rainfall, and strong winds have decided to join in too. Had hoped to walk into our local town ( 2.5 miles) and pick up a few bits of shopping as we haven't done any since our return home.Fortunately we're not desperate for anything so it can wait another day or two.

I downloaded a couple of really informative gardening books from our library yesterday and spent the whole evening reading one of them . I think today is perfect for settling down with a mug of tea to read through the other one.:dbgrtmb:

Hope you have a better day.

                    :spinning:

Morning all. Another fine start here but may have a shower later which, if we do, will be welcome.

I did not wake up till 8.20 this morning! J won't budge till I wake as he thinks 8 is too early anyway.

                      Have a great day everyone.

Morning Vicky and J, you sleepy heads :):snooze:, you must've needed the extra sleep :snooze:.

Unfortunately my body clock has an embedded routine that it seldom budges from so no matter what time I go to bed I'm always awake by 6......not that I get up then though, I let hubs get the breakfast.;)

Your forecast is looking lovely for today, so enjoy your breakfast soaking up the sunshine out in your gorgeous courtyard. Have to admit though I'm happy with our weather ,albeit causing a bit of agro to my knee and hips, but at least it's lovely and mild. I think our temps begin to dip from Thurs onwards...then I'll be...:cry3::sad:

                        Have a super day.xx

Morning Upsy. We don't have breakfast, just a biccie with tea at 8.15ish in bed. |I will go out front a little later this morning when it warms up to get some fresh air. Given druthers J would stay in bed till 10 at least, has always been like that when not in paid work. It won't change now.

Seems like someone has moved into the house at the end of the lane which has been empty for years.

January 2, Yes, thank goodness it finally all done. Back to normal stuff. Will put away the little holiday decorations end of this week.
Have been up since 7AM now 8AM, still on coffee. Watched some news. The weather man had it all wrong--again, did rain a little yesterday---but enough to make the leaves wet again ---so no raking for next couple days.
Going food shopping later to that store that has senior discount day, get 5% off entire bill at the register and 5 cents off if you bring your own bag, that is each bag, Hate having all those plastic bags about.
Well off to write some checks for mailing today. Husband still sleeping. Have a good day all.
