Good evening all. I hope you've all had a good day and am sorry about your news @Busy-Lizzie. Very sad for all concerned and far too young.

It got up to a giddy 15C this pm but with a naughty breeze. Fine for me as I was indoors for patch club but OH had some grass cutting to do for me and says it was draughty. A few people at patch have been in the wars - one who is allergic to loads of things has been bitten on the head by a spider and is on 3 kinds of meds to bring down the swelling and a,other for pain. The hypochondriac secretary now has osteoporosis and a broken rib. She broke her wrist 7 years ago and her foot 3 years ago but they've only just decided she has a calcium deficit. Others are just normal aging problems with arthritis and cataracts.

    Have a restful evening evryone.

I had two things on my list for today, clean our bedroom window which still has a big seagull dropping on it, and get OH to cut my hair. Got neither done! It was intermittently sunny, but a bit of a breeze and rather too cold for comfort. I did get some laundry done, and sorted some preliminary packing, but spent too much time sitting around and doom scrolling. Rather ashamed that I opened a bottle of English rose wine last night, and finished it off this evening. OH didn’t have any, so I appear to have had over four units per evening. It was very nice though! Back to the alcohol free beer tomorrow!
Enjoy your trip to Cornwall, @Busy-Lizzie. Wave towards the east as you pass Junction 29 on the M5. Hopefully all the lanes are open and no delays. Closures near Taunton yesterday while a goat was shooed off the motorway, but nothing untoward reported today!

Good morning all. It was proper chilly this morning so the heating went on for a boost - I like it warm when I get out of my shower. Singing at a funeral this morning then garden here I come. My neighbour sent me a hilarious video of Cricket and one of his friends racing and having a rough and tumble round all of her little girl's play things in their garden. Apparently it is a frequent occurence! It brough a smile to my face.

Good morning all. Sunny here and I am off to sort out my youngest daughter’s garden. Tidy it up and plant a few things so she has somewhere pleasant to sit with her new baby when she arrives. Thomas wants to play outside too, it’s a small garden very enclosed but sunny in patches and I think it could be made nice.

            Good morning all.

Thank you all for your condolences.
I was struggling a bit last night trying to write condolence cards to my DIL and her parents in French. I'll post them on our way to Bristol. We will stay with OH's niece for 2 nights on the way to Cornwall.

We may stop at Snowshill Manor garden if the journey goes smoothly.

Hello everyone, sounds like most of us have had a chilly BH weekend. We lit the log burner last night, just a few small logs but just enough to warm us through.

So sorry to hear your sad news @Busy-Lizzie

Am not sure we have anything news worthy. I did a bit of pottering in the garden over the weekend. I have put a Gertrude Jekyll climber on notice. It’s sulking and refuses to climb. The flowers are lovely but it has now had 3 years to get established so if it doesn’t get going this year it’s out.

I’ve removed some of my box plants and trying not to obsessively inspect the knot garden for caterpillar eggs or activity - easier said than done :dunno: At the moment the damage isn’t too bad and the worst areas are less visible so it all looks ok. However, I’m assuming this won’t last. OH is taking the optimistic view that this is as bad as it might get. We shall have to wait and see…

Not sure what’s happening today. We need to wait in for a log delivery so I think I might potter in the garden. I have lost of potting on to do and some small hazel hurdles to fashion. We have the sunshine back today and it’s a tad warmer than yesterday.

Hope everyone had a good day :spinning:

There are lots of Tropical Fish Keeper web sites which have member forums, also your local Freecycle site. Maybe a postcard in your local shops if you have any or ask a charity shop if they could come and pick it up from you. I have tried to rehome 2 Angel fish which have grown so big they killed off all but 3 of my smaller fish, I am hoping a local aquarium shop will do a swap for some replacements. The staff member said Yes but has to confirm with his manager. My tank is also big, I had a bargain when I found it in a charity shop for £100.00, with all the necessary equipment, pump, filter etc. I now find carrying buckets of water around really hard work, lifting them up to empty etc., but the tank has given me so much enjoyment.

Looks like everyone has had a busy day today! Out first thing this morning, a walk, then a quick look in the garden centre. I wanted a liner for a wrought metal wall trough. I have so many seeds started, and nowhere to put them, so I’ll put some in there!
It was a lot cooler here today. We both had to wear our warm puffa jackets for our walk, and I needed my fleece for a bit of gardening this afternoon. I planted the pachysandra on the bank, and dug out yet more roots of the gaultheria I’d hacked back. OH has cut more grass, and everything is looking a bit tidier. I’ve also given the birdbaths a good clean and refilled them.

                      Evening folks.

I managed to go to work today but still feeling under par. Good excuse to have an early night and catch up on a few gardening progs. I just need to nip out and close the greenhouse up as it’s chilly overnight.

                      Have a restful evening everyone.

Busy here too and in trousers and a long sleeved t-shirt cos of the nippy north wind. OH has been cutting grass and raking most of the day in shorts and a big sweatshirt.

I have watered seedlings and other babies in the polytunnel and on the benches outside, hoed the planted tomato bed as the recently laid garden compost is full of weed seeds, weeded and raked t'other side again cos the chooks like to dust bathe in it. Spuds earthed up again and the new strawberry bed raked level, scattered with pelleted manure then sprinklered before I covered it with weed membrane.

It's 10m x 1.25m which I think may turn out a bit small given the numbers of plants we have all over the veg plot and the RHS spacing guidelines for fat and juicy fruits.

Sorry you're feeling crook @AuntyRach and hope it passes soon. Same for anyone else feeling poorly or just tired.

Hello there everyone. The gold is hidden by the grey and white at the moment but cheery news for later in the week. Loads to do today - and no disruptions hopefully. I did a lot of reading last night as I couldn't get off to sleep. Hope you have all had restful nights and are ready for whatever today decides to throw at you.

                              Good morning all.

                              Thank you, @Butterfly6 and @Goldenlily26 .

We are now in Bristol with OH's niece. We visited Snowshill Manor on the way. Fascinating place. An eccentric chap, Charles Wade, bought the manor in 1920 and filled it with everything he collected. It's full of stuff from all around the world, from model ships, penny farthing bicycles, costumes, swords, carvings to dolls houses and tiny things. He lived in the cottage next door. He gave it to the National Trust.

The garden is lovely, terraced on a slope with stone walls and lots of cottage garden type flower beds.

Last night niece's daughter and her fiancé came to dinner, good to see them.
